Car crashes into nail salon in Raleigh's Village District

A car crashed into a nail salon on Tuesday in Raleigh's Village District.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. at the Village District Nail Spa on Cameron Street.

"I heard a loud skid, like 20 cars getting hit [and] the building shook," said Nicole Zimmerman, who works next to the salon. "I couldn't see the car at first, it was completely in the building."

Zimmerman and other customers at surrounding businesses said the crash shook the building, adding they never saw anything like it.

"We weren't sure if it was an accident or if it was something intentional," Zimmerman said.

One customer inside, who declined to share her name, said she was about to finish getting a pedicure when the car barreled through the side of the building.

"When we looked up, that car was coming straight for us," the customer said.

One person was injured when someone inside the salon was hit by broken glass.

Police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
