A man was arrested on Tuesday after police in Spring Lake said he made a bomb threat against them.

According to the Spring Lake Police Department, officers responded to a bomb threat and a suspicious package around noon that was left outside the police department's headquarters on Ruth Street.

Police analyzed the what was inside the package and determined its contents were non-life-threatening..

Police later identfied Donald Curtis Hammock, 30, as a suspect and arrested him. Hammock is in jail and being processed on charges related to fake bomb threats.

Police said streets surrounding the Spring Lake Municipal Building were closed during their investigation, but they have since reopened.
