Two arrested, charged with child rape in Richmond County

The Richmond County sheriff’s office has arrested and charged two people with raping a child.

Deputies arrested Keith Andrews, 73, of Mount Gilead, and Stephanie Gibson, 41, of Rockingham, on Thursday.

They are each charged with three felony counts of statutory rape of child less than or equal to 15, one count for felony indecent liberties with a child less than or equal to the age of 15, one count of felony human trafficking of a child and one count of felony first-degree kidnapping.

Authorities are holding Andrews and Gibson at the Richmond County Jail under no bond.

"Although our investigators take every case seriously, these cases that cross the desk of our Special Victims' Unit investigators are the most disturbing crimes, and we will hold anyone committing these crimes to the fullest extent of the law", Sheriff Mark Gulledge said in a news release.

On Thursday, authorities served a search warrant of a home in Richmond County after a complaint filed by the child’s father.
