A Cary man is charged with stealing and harming a goat found wandering an apartment complex.

The Wake County Sheriff's Office said Amalfi Avidai Roblero-Hernandez, 30, of Cary, was arrested Tuesday, June 30, and charged with crime against nature, felony cruelty to animals, pursuing or injuring livestock with intent to steal and misdemeanor larceny.

His arrest comes weeks after a woman reported a young goat was stolen from a nearby farm in west Raleigh. The goat, which was missing since May, was found wandering in a Cary apartment complex on June 13. Police confirmed it was the same goat that was reported stolen.

The Cary Police Department's animal control unit worked with NC State's veterinary school to determine the goat was injured during a "crime against nature."

 An investigation is ongoing., and there is no additional information at this time.
