A deputy with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a Monday shooting south of Snow Camp.
Just after 3 p.m., two deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle when they found a man with a vehicle behind a vacant building.

During the investigation, the man showed a gun and the deputies ordered that he drop it.
The sheriff's office said the man did not comply with the orders and pointed the gun in the direction of the deputies.
At that point, one of the deputies fired a single shot, striking the man.
Immediately after the shooting, the deputies provided medical care to the man until EMS and the fire department arrived.
The man was then airlifted to the hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.
Because the shooting involved law enforcement, the State Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency for the investigation.
The deputy who fired the shot has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
