Hundreds lose power in Durham on chilly morning

Power was restored to hundreds of customers in south Durham on Tuesday.

First reported at 4:30 a.m., the outage impacted 660 customers in the areas of Ellis Road near Ed Cook Road. The outage was restored by Tuesday afternoon.

The WRAL Storm Tracker arrived by 7:30 a.m. A Duke Energy worker at the scene told WRAL News an insulator failed and is hanging from the power line. 

Tuesday was one of the coldest mornings of this season so far, with lows in the the teens and wind chill in the single digits or negatives.
