Raleigh police have arrested a man and filed three juvenile petitions for their alleged involvement in a shooting last month at Triangle Town Center.
Marcus Neal, 18, is charged with:

- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury (3 counts)
- Assault with a deadly weapon (2 counts)
- Carrying a concealed gun
- Discharging a weapon within city limits
Officers arrested Neal on Monday and processed him at the Wake County Detention Center.
Detectives have also filed juvenile petitions against three young people believed to be involved in the shooting for:
- Misdemeanor rioting
- Misdemeanor assault
Raleigh police chief Rico Boyce said he was concerned not only by the shooting, but by the ages of the people involved.
"We are seeing this trend of younger offenders committing serious offenses," Boyce said. "I’m very thankful that we have the 18-year-old in custody and we are holding those juveniles responsible with juvenile petitions."
Boyce said that while the rise in violent crimes involving teenagers is troubling, he believes intervention can still make a difference.
"Find activities or find someone in your life that is positive that can steer you in the right way," Boyce said.
The shooting happened on April 17 at the Triangle Town Center, which opened one day later. The shooting hospitalized three people, police said.
"We thank the Raleigh PD for their hard work and diligence. We will continue to assist them in any way we can to ensure the safety of our patrons, tenants and visitors," read a statement from the mall.
When asked how investigators identified Neal and other people involved and why it took nearly a month to file charges, the police department provided no comment
The investigation is ongoing.
