16-year-old boy killed in shooting during 'situation between family members,' Rocky Mount police say

Police said that while a suspect was identified, they are not filing charges due to “facts known at the time,” but added they were still investigating and gathering more information.

A 16-year-old boy died Saturday night following a shooting in Rocky Mount.

According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, officers found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound after responding around 10:26 p.m. on Center Street

While first responders provided emergency first aid to the victim, later identified as Larry Davis, he died at the hospital shortly after arriving.

Police said that while a suspect was identified, they are not filing charges due to "facts known at the time," but added they were still investigating and gathering more information.

“This is an unfortunate situation between family members, and our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragic loss,” said a spokesperson with Rocky Mount police.
