The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill announced Tuesday that the U.S. government is terminating the visas of six international students.
UNC’s International Student and Scholars Services [ISSS] staff communicate regularly with international students and scholars, as well as their departments, advisors and supervisors, about regulatory changes and their immigration status.

The ISSS said it is available to advise, answer questions and provide resources to university-sponsored international students and scholars.
Students on campus are demanding answers and want to know why the students visas were terminated. One described the situation as heartbreaking.
“My parents came here and they had to work so hard to build a life here," said UNC student Aditi Nayak. I think that it sucks because these people are also working to build a life here."
The names of the six students have not been identified. University officials have declined to comment further for the confidentiality of the students.
Similar visa terminations have happened at other universities across the country, including Duke University and North Carolina State University. The visa terminations are a result of travel restrictions implemented by the Trump administration.
On Monday, the Duke Chronicle reported that two Duke graduate students and alumnus had been told their visas would be revoked.
At NC State, two student visas were terminated, and one of those students decided to return to Saudi Arabia.
