'Idol' to attend NC State

Scotty McCreery, the Garner high school student who shot to national stardom in "American Idol" last spring will return to Raleigh for college.

McCreery, who applied to Belmont University in Nashville, Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tenn., North Carolina State University and East Carolina University, was accepted at all four and said Saturday that he would attend N.C. State.

McCreery has split time during this senior year at Garner High School, where he is a pitcher on the baseball team, at on the road, touring with country singer Brad Paisley.
