WAKE COUNTY — As memorial day approaches we take the time to reflect upon the sacrifices of our nations veterans. We honor memory, freedom, and the right to protest the reasons. We also like to hold bar-b-q's, family outings and good natured partying. As the day nears, also be aware that another group is out there to insure that the rest of us have a safe and happy memorial - us. Yes, your favorite people - the police.
Some things to know before you start on your tirades this morning:
Fact: The tickets that we write DO NOT generate any revenue whatsoever for the police, the officer writing it, or the jurisdiction that it is written. By state law, all proceeds from citations go directly to the school system of the jurisdiction that the ticket is written in. So no, you "dont pay my salary" from that aspect.
Fact: A traffic stop for speeding, or whatever reason IS NOT a violation of your "civil rights" despite what you learned during your 4 years of beer bong and spring break that your mommy and daddy paid for. When you become a chief justice of the supreme court then you can change the laws, but until then - here's your pink copy.
Fact: I will be the one hidden in the treeline on all the backroads that you think the cops "never come out here." Guess again - Bo.
Fact: Speed kills - plain and simple. Just slow down there is no hurry.
Fact: Deny, deny, deny.....my radar never lies, I clocked and locked you at 80 mph in a 55 mph, that is reckless disregard - we're going to jail - period....
Fact: Yes, I will be at your court date - everyone of them. Even the ones that you ask for a continuance in to see if you are going to catch me not showing up. PLEASE!!! tell me that you will represent yourself - bring your drivers handbook with you and the 70 some-odd pictures that you took...I LOVE THOSE!!!!
Fact: Nearly all of us have on-board video and we also carry pocket recorders - works both ways don't it!! You tape us, we tape you.....
Fact: If you are from Bragg I may forego the ticket for a full recital of the Ranger Creed.
Fact: The maximum effective range of an excuse is zero.
