New, two-story Publix open in Wendell

The store is just over 48,000 sq. ft. and will employ approximately 140 associates.

A company representative shared that Publix will be giving away reusable bags at the opening. In the past, the bags were given to customers at checkout when they made a purchase.

In addition, the first mailer with Publix weekly specials should already be in Wendell-area mailboxes. If you do not get it, you can pick it up at the store when you arrive Wednesday.

This is the first Publix store in eastern Wake County. Part of the Wendell Falls community, developers told WRAL News more commercial and retail space will be ready next year.

WakeMed also plans to start construction on a new medical facility in the area next year.

Publix opened their first Triangle location in October 2014 at 1020 Bradford Plaza Way in Cary.

The next Publix coming to the area will be in Clayton at 24 Publix Dr. According to the Publix website, the store will be located at Marketplace at Flowers and is "coming soon."

* There is no physical reward card for Publix stores

* Find store coupons in the in-store coupon booklet and on the app and website

* BOGO (buy one get one free) offers are each considered a separate purchase and each rings up at half price. A coupon maybe used on each item.
