New Hanover County landfill crew finds woman's missing wedding rings
Sanitation workers in New Hanover County helped a woman find precious jewelry she threw away by mistake.
I just said, I can't find my rings and I was frantic. If this looks like just a big blur chuck and pam smith say, you don't know the half of it running around the house looking everywhere, turns out pam accidentally threw her jewelry in the trash. Yes, it was rough. Her husband ran outside uh, trash cans were empty, then bolted down the street to catch up with the neighborhood garbage crew now blocks away when they flagged me down, I didn't know what was going on, but I know I've seen a couple in distress. We're talking thousands and thousands of dollars, panicked. That's a lot of money. The sanitation crew couldn't dump the trash in the street. So they landed at the landfill. Nothing sanitary here. Yeah. About 700 trucks passed through these gates every single day, dumping 1500 tons of trash management wasn't here. It was my call in two seconds that I'd like to have a sit tight Kadar Bronson sprung into action. The goal was to scrape away the stuff that was dumped layer by layer. But I noticed the lady was standing in front of my bulldozer and she was prayed So I called my wife and we're praying with her were praying, praying. Lord told this woman favor prayer help. But so did teamwork guys were amazing. More than half a dozen guys going through all of this inch by inch and hours and hours of trash. I knew some of the items that were in the trash can and trash bag. So when I sensed it up, tied it up, I knew what color of the tire app was. I had all that in my mind. Not the greatest way to spend an afternoon, but Hey, let's face it, memorable to say the least and memorable for all the right reasons. It's like we went through almost every bag and we got, it was literally the last bag, like literally the last bag we found it. But we found it luckily great cigar literally minutes before closing time, pam, acknowledging the man upstairs through prayer and acknowledging the staff were Thank you, love the events that day made for an eventful time in our lives and we will forever remember the compassionate and understanding way we were treated. I've been in the trash business a long time. Thank you. Notes. Don't come around too often. I mean it's garbage and just see the reaction from them. It makes it worth waking up and coming to work every day, but pam wants you to know. But she realized through all of this, there's a lot of good, there's a lot of good people in this world still that are willing to help.
