CARY, N.C. — A new “store” is in the works for Wake County Public School System teachers to pick up free school supplies.

The Wake Education Partnership plans to temporarily use the office space of a former car repair service in Cary to display donated items or items purchased with funds donated to the partnership.

The 20-month lease approved by the Wake County Board of Education on Tuesday, on behalf of the Partnership, begins Oct. 1.

The site, at 1660 Piney Plains Road, is slated for renovation as a district transportation center in July 2023.

The Wake Education Partnership started in 1983 as a nonprofit focused exclusively on helping the school district.
