FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Air Mobility Command announced Thursday that Col. John McDonald will be the next 43rd Airlift Wing Commander.

McDonald has served as the 43rd wing’s vice commander since July 2006. He is a senior navigator with more than 2,100 hours on the C-130 E/H and T-43 aircraft.

When he assumes command in May, he will replace Col. Timothy Zadalis, who has served as the 43rd wing’s commander since July 2006. Zadalis will take over as commander of the 21st Expeditionary Mobility Task Force at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey.
