New Cary co-working space is geared toward working moms
Blush Cowork is a women-focused co-working space that includes on-site childcare. Blush has desks, conference rooms and private rooms.
Posted — UpdatedCo-founder Alison Rogers, a mother of two, said working from home is not always ideal for parents, sometimes lacking "opportunities to connect with people and collaborate with small groups."
"A lot of working parents have found it’s almost impossible to do your work and do it well when you have a small child running around," Rogers said. "Sometimes you just need a physical place to work that is not your home."
Memberships start at $250 a month with upgrades available for conference rooms, a dedicated desk space and other collaborative spaces. Day passes are available for $45 but do not include childcare options.
Childcare is available for $10 per hour for monthly members.
Rogers said the goal is to create a “community of women who can all help each other achieve.”
Commercial Real Estate Broker Jill Kalisiak recently started her own firm. The mother of three is planning to use Blush's childcare center. She acknowledges that it has been hard to work from home.
“The need to be in the office for an 8 a.m. meeting that sometimes got derailed by somebody who wasn’t feeling well that morning," Kalisiak said. "Or somebody who needed something with regard to school or my husband’s travel schedule.”
Kalisiak hopes working out of Blush Cowork will allow her to network and make connections with business owners looking to expand to other spaces.
“I think an opportunity like this gives you the networking potential and comradery and space to do you best work knowing that your kids are close by and safe and happy," Kalisiak said.
