Neighbors, family respond after 68-year-old woman killed in home
A 68-year-old grandmother was killed in her home, and her relative is the main suspect in her murder. The woman is expected to be armed and dangerous, driving a U-Haul truck with a young child inside.
a woman is on the run from police accused of shooting and killing a family member in Clayton and Wrl has learned that the suspect is the victim's granddaughter. This is where she lived. A neighbor came by earlier and put some flowers there on the pillar. You can see she was decorated for fall. She was ready for that celebration of fall. Her family members that I talked to today said she was ready for all of that. They tell me that she and her family members are taking some time. Her daughters, They want to regroup because they have not only learned about their mother's murder. They've also learned that another family member is the suspect. This is the woman. Police say shot and killed 68 year old Anita Gaither. The faces may look different through photo filters, but police identify her as 31 year old Camille Singleton. They believe she took off with her two year old son in a U haul pickup truck like this one. It was here for two days. But those people next to her move. So I figured that was had something to it as we was in the house all day. So we didn't hear nothing. We didn't see anybody leave but that you always not here on nine nine yesterday morning. A welfare check on gaither at her home on Crawford Parkway around 4 30 yesterday afternoon led officers to discover her body inside W. R. A. L. Obtained the police incident report revealing she was shot in the head with a handgun that was shocked because she's so nice. She fixed to everybody. She's just she's just a nice lady. She's like grandma to everybody. To all the Children that live here. In a statement to Wrl Gaither's family rights, we have lost our mother under very tragic circumstances and words cannot express the sense of loss.
