CLAYTON, N.C. — The two people found dead inside a Kennel Lane home Sunday night were husband and wife, Jaime Fernando Bueno, 35, and Christina Marie Bueno, 33, Clayton police said Monday.

Christina Bueno had called 911 just after 9:30 p.m. to report that her husband pulled a gun during the course of a domestic dispute. The 911 dispatcher heard gunshots over the phone.

By the time police arrived, both Buenos were dead. Police said the couple was found in the bedroom of their 6-year-old son. The child was also present, but he wasn't injured.

Witnesses told police that the couple had a history of "domestic problems." Police had been called to the residence at least once before, in 2019.

Neighbors who spoke to WRAL News but did not want to give their names expressed surprise.

One called the Buenos "just a wonderful family.

"She’s a wonderful mother, kind. They’re generous. They’ve checked on us a lot. They’re just good people," a neighbor said.

Another called them "good, religious people," saying "I’ve never seen any kind of anger or anything out of them."

The 6-year-old child was taken into custody by Johnston County Department of Social Services, which is working to locate a family member to care for the child.
