Neighbor arrested in slaying of elderly Pitt County woman

The neighbor of an elderly Pitt County woman whose body was found after a fire broke out at her home has been arrested and charged in connection with the woman's death, authorities said Friday.

AYDEN, N.C. — The neighbor of an elderly Pitt County woman whose body was found after a fire broke out at her home has been arrested and charged in connection with the woman's death, authorities said Friday.

The body of Violet Langley Webb, 66, who lived at 1641 W. Hanrahan Road, was found Monday after firefighters were called to her residence to extinguish a fire. Authorities said in a written statement that they arrested Nathan Wesley Boseman, 20, who lives at 1641 W. Hanrahan Road, after autopsy results concluded that the victim had been murdered.

Investigators did not provide information about a motive in the killing, how the woman died or say if the victim knew the suspect.

Authorities also did not identify how the fire started.
