Posted — UpdatedDAYTON, Ohio -- Amazon is expected to ship more than Christmas gifts to homes this holiday season, offering full-size, live Christmas trees delivered right to the front door.
Starting in November, the company will begin selling $50 wreaths, $25 red-leafed plants with decorative candy canes and $115 North Carolina 7-foot Fraser firs. There will also be Douglas firs and Norfolk Island pines, Amazon told the Associated Press.
All trees will be shipped within 10 days of cutting them down.
As Amazon grows into different industries including retail, grocery and pharmacy, a retail search marketing agency forecasts that the online giant will also take a larger share of holiday spending.
NetElixi expects Amazon to take about 40 percent of online holiday sales this year, up 5 percent from last year. That will account for $28.8 billion in sales.
The biggest holiday shopping day of the year, Black Friday, is about 10 weeks away.
