RALEIGH, N.C. — A North Carolina Central University student was invited on stage to sing during Dreamville Festival — and he blew everyone away.

Josiah Russell was working at Dreamville Festival on Saturday when R&B artist Kehlani heard him singing backstage.

"Long story short, she heard me sing. Everywhere I go, I sing," he said.

Kehlani invited him on stage during one of her sets and asked him to sing for a few seconds. But Russell was ready and took over the microphone for longer than that. Right when he took the stage, he started belting, and the crowd went wild.

Russell, from Statesville, said he's been singing since he was three years old.

Russell said he's in the midst of working on a gospel-mix song about his experience at Dreamville Festival.

"I give all my honor to God. Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior is the reason I'm here," he said.
