CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A North Carolina Central University football player suspected in a May 8 purse snatching has surrendered, the Chapel Hill Police Department said Thursday.

Littbarski S. Blackwood, 19, was being held on $6,000 bond in the Orange County Detention Center.

Blackwood and three others are charged with common-law robbery. Police arrested Dennis Morris Jenkins, 19, on May 26. Two other suspects, Ricky Michael Edwards, 18, and Robert Christopher Williams, 19, are still at large, police said.

Edwards is also a player on the NCCU football team.

According to his profile on the NCCU athletics Web site, Blackwood is majoring in criminal justice.

Police said charges against the men stem from an incident on Fordham Boulevard in which a woman said four men grabbed her purse as she was walking into a Borders bookstore. The men fled in a 1999 Lexus sedan, police said.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Edwards or Williams is asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
