RALEIGH, N.C. — Downtown's newest mural honors Raleigh's own Levelle Moton.

The massive mural is going up on South Salisbury Street, near East Hargett Street.

The mural features NC Central's head basketball coach surrounded by championship trophies.

Sean Kernick is the artist behind the mural. Moton has coached the Eagles to several MEAC championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. Moton played at Enloe High before starring at NCCU as a player.

"Coach Mo" has made a mark on the Triangle off-the-court, founding his Velle Cares Foundation, and investing in growth and development in southeast Raleigh, where he grew up. Moton's foundation has partnered with Google to help some low-income Triangle residents prepare for careers in information technology.
