NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, N.C. — A young mother in July of 2012 was found dead beside her burning car in Northampton County.

Police say they have evidence but need the public’s help to solve the case.

Crystal Bell had a feeling something might happen to her. One comment in particular, worried her sister

“She said, ‘Promise me if anything ever happens to me, you will take care of my baby and you will raise her, because I know you are a good mother,’” said Jennifer Soria, Bell’s sister.

The message was difficult for Bell, who doubted whether childbirth would ever be in her future.

“She’s a true miracle because my sister was told by many doctors that she would never get pregnant,” Soria said.

Soria’s worst feats came true. The 29-year-old mother was found shot to death behind an abandoned home next to her burning car.

The home is less than two miles from the mobile home she shared wither boyfriend, Shawn Robinson.

“[I’m] still stunned,” Robinson said. “Waiting for police to give me answers about what has taken place and what happened.”

Robinson said the couple was in the process of splitting up when she died, but he would never hurt the mother of his child.

“I just dread having to tell her what happened to her mother,” he said.

Investigators say there was a history of domestic violence at the home Bell shared with her boyfriend. However, four years later there have been no arrests.

Anyone with information regarding Bell’s death is asked to call the NC Wanted hotline at 1-866-439-2683.
