NC trooper praised after family credits him with saving baby's life
A North Carolina state trooper is being called a hero for saving a 9-week-old baby's life.
Posted — UpdatedDerrick Stroud said he drove nearly 100 miles per hour to take his 9-week old daughter, Amelia, from their home in Kinston to ECU health in Greenville.
Stroud says his daughter wasn't breathing. Amelia started turning blue after suffering from RSV symptoms.
He said he knew he would be pulled over. When he was, the officer jumped into action right away.
Trooper Matthew Brown out of Lenoir County, a former firefighter and EMT, was able to get baby Amelia breathing again, and on to the hospital for treatment.
She is expected to make a full recovery.
