MICHAEL ROBINSON, THE NORTH CAROLINA SUPREME COURT ISSUED THE ORDER SAYING IT WILL CONSIDER AN APPEAL IN THE LEANDRO CASE. &gt;&gt; WE'RE AT A CLEAR CONSTITUTIONAL INFLECTION POINT THE LEANDRO CASE WHICH WAS FILED IN 1994 IN HOKE COUNTY BY 5 POOR SCHOOL DISTRICTS WHO SAID THEY COULD NOT AFFORD TO PROVIDE THEIR STUDENTS WITH A SUFFICIENT EDUCATION IS HEADED TO THE STATE SUPREME COURT. THE STATE'S HIGHEST COURT GRANTED A REQUEST TO TAKE UP THE CASE AFTER YEARS OF BATTLES IN THE LOWER COURTS, THE CASE WILL BE HEARD BY SUPREME COURT JUSTICES ONLY AFTER A STATE SUPERIOR COURT LOOKS AT THE IMPACT OF THE NEW STATE BUDGET ON THE LEANDRO APPROVED ANY UNDER PLAN COST A BILLION DOLLARS OVER 8 YEARS AND LAYS OUT HOW TO MAKE SURE SCHOOLS ARE PROVIDING A SOUND BASIC EDUCATION AS GUARANTEED OR STATE CONSTITUTION. ADVOCATES SAY THAT'S ONLY HAVE COMPLIANT. NOW IT'S HEADED TO THE STATE SUPREME COURT. &gt;&gt; RICK LEISURE, WHO RUNS THE NC JUSTICE CENTER SAID THIS IS REALLY THE ONLY WAY WE GET AN ENDING TO THE LEANDRO SAGA. THE RESULT OF THE DECISION WILL BE EITHER THAT WE ARE A GOVERNMENT OF LAWS AND THAT EVERYONE MUST COMPLY WITH THE CONSTITUTION. I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmoth in the WRL severe weather center, a summer like day today. A lot of sunshine, warm temperatures highs will climb into the upper eighties for most of you today. We have severe weather west of us today, but that same system is headed our way. It arrives Friday afternoon and has the potential to bring some severe storms here as well. We have a level one risk for severe storms for most of the area, including all of the triangle. The biggest threats would be some damaging winds and maybe a little bit of hail. So this system as it does move into North Carolina, it weakens, but we still have that threat. We'll still have some storm energy in the afternoon and evening and we have that potential for some isolated severe storms the second half of the day tomorrow overnight, tonight, clouds will increase. We'll have a dry morning commute. So you don't have to worry about the rain in the morning when you leave. But then in the afternoon, around three o'clock or so, we'll start to notice the development of some hit and miss showers and storms and that will likely continue through the evening commute. And if you have Friday night plans, you probably want the umbrella just to be on the safe side. At nine o'clock, we'll still have some scattered showers and storms. And then beyond that, I think things will start to settle down and we'll have a little bit of a break from the rain on Saturday. But some hit and miss storms possible the second half of the day tomorrow on Friday and then we'll have a better chance for some rain as we wrap up the weekend, a decent chance for scattered showers the second half of the day on Sunday, this is just going to be rain. We don't expect severe weather. It will be a stable air mass in place. Highs will be in the sixties. So just plain old rain for the second half of the day on Sunday. So for the rest of the day today, it is dry and warm. A high of 87 today, a dry start Friday. But then late in the afternoon and through the evening, we'll have some hit and miss showers and storms and any storms that form could become become severe. Saturday. We have partly to mostly cloudy skies. Only a 20% chance for rain with a high near normal. Around 75 Sunday will probably start dry. And then the second half of the day, we have scattered showers. It's cooler with a high of 6365 with the high on Monday and we'll have lows in the forties Monday morning and Tuesday morning. But temperatures will start to go up again next week. We're back in the mid seventies, Tuesday and upper seventies by Wednesday.
