NC State police: Woman sexually assaulted on Dix Campus after meeting man at Dreamville Festival

A woman told NC State University Police that she was sexually assaulted in the Cherry Building by a man she met while attending the Dreamville Music Festival being held nearby at Dix Park.

She described the man as being 6'1" tall, weighing 140 lbs. He was slender, with close-cropped hair. She said he was wearing a blue hoodie, black pants and a yellow traffic vest with reflective stripes. He was last seen running back towards the direction of the festival inside Dix Park.

University Police said they do not have enough information at this time to confirm if the assailant is affiliated with the university.

He has not been identified, and he is still on the loose.

Those at the festival told WRAL News hearing about the incident was very frightening.

"I really didn't know that, and that brings a lot of shame to my heart because there are a lot of people here and you don't know what's going on," said Jow Williams who is attending Dreamville. "I really hope they find the person who did this."

This report happened after a separate altercation was reported around 6:15 p.m., when a man was arrested and charged with simple assault on three separate victims near the center of the festival. The suspect was arrested, transported to the hospital, and then transported to the Wake County Jail.
