HIGH POINT, N.C. — A 25-year-old local pastor was shot around 8:30 p.m. outside his home on Ardale Drive in High Point.
Robert Booth was transported to the hospital and later died, officials told WXII.

Police have not been able to find the people who shot Booth and are asking the community for help. Officers canvassed Booth's neighborhood on Friday morning, handing out fliers and talking with neighbors.

Booth had been ordained as a pastor just days before his death by Bishop Kerry Thomas.

"The streets were Robert's pulpit," Thomas said. "Just the very fabric of who he was, outside of him being a pastor, outside of him being clergy, he was just a good human being."

Booth had also just proposed to his girlfriend, and was planning a wedding, according to his Facebook.

Thomas said Booth could strike up a conversation with anyone, no matter their background. Thomas believes that Booth might have been talking with people about God when he was shot.

"He instantaneously had just this gift to know a stranger," Thomas said.

The church is organizing a memorial for Booth on Sunday afternoon.

Police said this murder is connected with another homicide in High Point, but did not explain to WXII how.
