NC man shot by grandfather while trying to rob him, police say

According to Long View police, the shooting occurred around 8 a.m. at a home along 38th Street NW.

Police said the grandfather was home alone when his 34-year-old grandson kicked in the door wearing a mask. When the grandson assaulted his grandfather and demanded money, he was shot multiple times, WCNC reported.

The grandson fled on foot but was found at a nearby hotel with life-threatening injuries.

The grandfather, who suffered facial and bodily injuries, said he didn't know the suspect was his own grandson.

The investigation is ongoing.
