LEXINGTON, N.C. — A North Carolina man facing human trafficking and rape charges is accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old girl from her Texas home and driving her to Lexington, N.C. for the purpose of using her for sexual servitude.

Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho, 34, was charged Friday with felony child abduction and felonious restraint for taking the child from her Dallas home. The arrest warrant states Camacho restrained and drove the girl from Texas to Lexington in a 2017 Chevy Cruze that was registered to him.

The Davidson County Sheriff's Office said messages were exchange between Camacho and the 13-year-old, and that Camacho had been grooming her and enticing her to leave her home. Camacho allegedly groomed her through video game chat rooms.

"You can talk to anyone in the world through a video game," said Anissa McNair, Director of Human Trafficking for the township of Zion. "It opens for anyone to talk to you."

The warrant states Camacho attempted to take "immoral, improper and indecent liberties" with the 13-year-old with "the purpose of arousing and gratifying sexual desire" and that he had sexual intercourse with the child.

US Attorney Michael Easley Jr. said there has been an increase in predators trying to reach children through video games, and is asking parents to stay aware of what their kids are doing online.

The method, however, can be a bit more complicated.

"It is a lot more complicated if your kid has a gaming console, they are plugged in for hours and hours on end." Easley Jr. said.

Easley said a good place to start is by knowing your child's login name and using online safety features provided by gaming systems, such as chatting restrictions.

"You got to know how to put safety features in place," Easley said.

McNair said paying attention is the most important part, as predators look for opportunities when parents are not.

"Attention is a highly addictive drug, more than anything I know," McNair said.

Camacho was also charged with felony indecent liberties with a child and felony human trafficking of a child victim. He was charged with two counts each of statutory rape of a child under 15 and statutory sex offense with a child under 15.

Camacho was jailed with a $1.25 million secured bond.

A local news outlet reports the girl was found locked in an outbuilding on Camacho's property on Linwood-Southmont Road in Lexington and has since been reunited with her family.
