North Carolina could be the site of the second installment of "The Hunger Games" triology.

“We are in talks with Lionsgate about filming the next installment of the 'The Hunger Games' in North Carolina, but it is certainly not a done deal," state film office director Aaron Syrett said Tuesday.

The first film was shot on locations and sets from Concord to Barnardsville. The movie, which is based on the opening novel in a wildly popular futuristic trilogy by Suzanne Collins, hits theaters Friday.

"Considering that the first film spent approximately $60 million in our state and created 5,000 jobs, we are very hopeful that they will return," Syrett said.

The second Hunger Games book is titled "Catching Fire."
