3 vehicles involved in crash on NC 42 east of Clayton
N.C. Highway 42 was closed Monday morning east of Clayton for about an hour while emergency crews cleared a three-vehicle crash that sent several people to the hospital.

Two white sedans and a white pickup ended up in the ditch at the side of the road near the intersection with Neuse River Parkway.
N.C. 42 is a single lane in each direction with a left-turn lane at that location, at the entrance to the Flowers Plantation subdivision and north of Neuse Golf Club.
It was not immediately clear what caused the crash or whether there would be any criminal charges.
