NC Highway Patrol: 18-year-old woman dies in Nashville wreck

An 18-year-old woman died in a Nashville wreck around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson.

NASHVILLE, N.C. — An 18-year-old woman died in a Nashville wreck around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to a North Carolina Highway Patrol spokesperson.

The driver of a 2002 Acura was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 64 when he lost control of the car, ran up an embankment and struck a tree.

The driver, 21-year-old Victor Lopez Alvarez, was ejected from the car. He is in fair condition at WakeMed.

The front passenger, 18-year-old Anna Marie Alonso-Palacios was not ejected, but died at the scene.

Both Alvarez and Alonso-Palacios were not wearing seatbelts, the spokesperson said.

Alvarez is charged with reckless driving and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
