RALEIGH, N.C. — Major federal financial relief is coming to daycare centers across the state of North Carolina.

Governor Roy Cooper announced an historic investment to strengthen these businesses hit hard by the pandemic.

North Carolina will receive $805 million dollars as part of the American Rescue Plan for early education.

Depending on the daycare's size, they could be eligible to receive anywhere from $3,000 to $60,000 per quarter.

Governor Cooper and Representative David Price visited the Community School for People Under Six in Carrboro to announce the new funding – which will help early childhood educators recover from the pandemic, get parents back to work and grow the state’s economy.

Child care centers can apply for a grant online starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis starting in mid-November.
