RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina will be well represented at this weekend's Grammy Awards. Musicians from Durham and Charlotte are hoping to take top honors.

Durham's own Rapsody is up for Best Rap Album for "Laila's Wisdom." Rapsody, aka Marlanna Evans, was born in Snow Hill but now lives in the Bull City. She is the only woman nominated in that category. She is up against JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Migos and Tyler and The Creator. Rapsody also scored a nomination for Best Rap Song for "Sassy."

Durham indie pop duo Sylvan Esso is up for Best Dance/Electronic Album for "What Now." Iron and Wine, the stage name for Durham songwriter Sam Beam, is up for Best Americana Album for "Beast Epic." And Charlotte's Anthony Hamilton is up for a Grammy in the Best R&B Performance Album category.

The Grammy Awards air Sunday on CBS.
