— N.C. Highway 42 reopened Sunday near Sauls Road after a driver ran a stop sign and struck a power pole.

According to officials with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver struck one pole, and the force of the impact brought down two additional poles.

The crash occurred around 4 a.m., and troopers at the scene said the road could be closed for several hours.

The driver was charged with a DWI and failure to stop at a stop sign, according to officials. There were no injuries.

About 700 customers in the area were without power on Sunday.
