Charlotte, N.C. — The National Weather Service confirmed four tornadoes hit the Charlotte area during Thursday's severe storms.
One tornado was an EF-1, which left a 17-mile trail of damage through out the community.
At least two deaths were confirmed as related to these storms, officials said.
There were reports of flooded roads, as well as downed trees and utility poles. North Carolina had over 150,000 power outages, and homes were damaged by the high winds.
Students at UNC Charlotte tweeted photos of being 'sheltered in place' on campus.
The storm damage looks like it will take a while to clean up, and some communities will be working on repairs all weekend.
