Nash slaying suspect arrested

Eusevio Salazar-Mendoza, who is wanted on a first-degree murder charge, was last seen driving a black 1995 Jeep Cherokee with North Carolina license plate number ZWW-1489.

CASTALIA, N.C. — A man wanted in a fatal shooting in Nash County this weekend was arrested Tuesday in Franklin County, authorities said.

Eusevio Salazar-Mendoza faces a first-degree murder charge in the Saturday shooting death of Corrello Ramiro at 7942 Buck Road, just south of Castalia. Details of the shooting weren't released.

Salazar-Mendoza was found in a wooded area in the 300 block of Cheeks Quarter Road, southeast of Henderson and north of Louisburg, according to the Nash County Sheriff's Office.

He was placed in the Nash County jail without bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
