NASHVILLE, N.C. — A woman working at a Nashville daycare was charged with child abuse for mishandling two children on video.

Nash County Sheriff's Office (NCSO) received a tip on Monday about a daycare staff member mishandling children at Corinth Baptist Church Daycare. Video footage shared on social media revealed the woman, Bonnie Cooper, abusing the children, according to the NCSO.

Bonnie Cooper was charged with child abuse by the Nash County Sheriff's Office.

When investigators spoke with the director of the daycare, they discovered the mishandling occurred in July and the woman was disciplined by the daycare. Investigators found that one of the staff members recorded the video and shared it with other staff members. Cooper continued to work there as the daycare was short-staffed.

One video shows Cooper appearing to pull a child by the arm to scold him. Another video shows Cooper appearing to pull a little girl by her hair.

Cooper, who resigned from the daycare on Oct. 14, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor child abuse. Her first court date is scheduled for Nov. 15.

WRAL News went to the daycare center for a response to the situation, and an employee said they chose to close down this week and won't have any other comment until they get legal advice. WRAL News also called and knocked on the door of the employee in the videos, but she did not answer.

Families of the two children in the videos declined to speak with WRAL News.
