Nash County to Get Rest Area Renovations

The N.C. Board of Transportation on Thursday awarded a $2.3 million contract for renovations to the rest areas on both directions of Interstate 95 in Nash County, three miles north of Rocky Mount.

ROCKY MOUNT — The N.C. Board of Transportation on Thursday awarded a $2.3 million contract for renovations to the rest areas on both directions of Interstate 95 in Nash County, three miles north of Rocky Mount.

The contract was awarded to Calvin Davenport Inc. of Rocky Mount, and work was scheduled to begin as early as Oct. 29, with final completion by Sept. 15, 2008.

Included in the project are plans to build a new rest area building at each facility, as well as renovate the current buildings and convert them to vending facilities. Also included are plans to improve the sidewalks and grounds and make minor repairs to the parking lots.
