Nash County 6-year-old's shooting believed to be an accident

A 6-year-old child was shot Tuesday afternoon in the 5900 block of Maggie Road in Nashville, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone told WRAL News.

NASHVILLE, N.C. — A 6-year-old child was shot Tuesday afternoon in the 5900 block of Maggie Road in Nashville, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone told WRAL News.

The child was airlifted to Vidant Hospital, where he was in surgery Tuesday evening.

Deputies believe the shooting was an accident. They said the child was playing with his older brother and some friends. The brother took the boy to a neighbor's house and called 911.

The child's parents were not home at the time of the shooting.
