DURHAM, N.C. — NanaTaco has a new owner and name.
Jennifer Gillie and Scott Howell opened the Durham restaurant in September 2011 in a former garage on University Drive. On Monday, the business announced that the name will officially be changed to NanatacoNuvoTaco{{/a}}. Late last year, Gillie became sole owner of the venture.

“I’m excited to continue this legacy with our team and to play our part in Durham’s thriving food scene,” Gillie said in a statement. "This transition in ownership has been discussed for years, and while our name is changing, our commitment to quality food and exceptional guest experiences will stay the same."

The menu will continue to include the same hand-pressed corn tortillas, house-pickled jalapeños and “Dirty Meats," including local hog jowls, pork belly and crispy chicken liver.

Gillie is from Durham and has been running the day-to-day operations of the restaurant since it opened.

NuvoTaco, at 2512 University Drive, is open 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The news about NanaTaco comes on the heels of Howell announcing the reopening of Nana's in Durham. After 26 years in business, Nana's closed its doors last June 30.
