N.Y. man charged with drug offenses in Weldon

A deputy found cocaine and counterfeit money during a search of New York man's vehicle in Weldon Thursday night, according to theHalifax County Sheriff's Office.

WELDON, N.C. — A deputy found cocaine and counterfeit money during a search of New York man's vehicle in Weldon Thursday night, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Deputy J. Puhak stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation around 10:30 p.m. and got the driver's permission to search it, authorities said. Puhak found 1.1 grams of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of counterfeit money.

Phillip Fearron, of 22 Myron Ave. in Roosevelt, N.Y., was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Fearron was being held in the Halifax County Jail Thursday under a $2,000 secured bond. His first court date was set for Sept. 15.
