RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina's unemployment rate once again dropped by the slightest amount, down 0.1 percent in October to 5.7 percent.
The state Commerce Department said Friday that last month's jobless rate was unchanged from one year ago.
The number of people employed increased by almost 10,900 between September and October, to nearly 4.49 million. That's an increase of 124,100 jobs over the year.
The number of people unemployed decreased 2,042 over the month, to 273,645, but was up 11,591 from October 2014.
The government and construction sectors saw the largest increase in jobs during October, while the leisure and hospitality education and health services and financial activities sectors saw the largest losses in the month.
North Carolina continues to lag behind the national average unemployment rate. In October, that figure was 5 percent.
