N.C. soldier killed in Iraq

An Army soldier from Pitt County died in Mosul, Iraq, on Wednesday, military officials announced.

PINEVILLE, N.C. — An Army soldier from Pitt County died in Mosul, Iraq, on Wednesday, military officials announced.

Spc. Joel A. Taylor, 20, of Pinetown, was wounded on Tuesday when an improvised-explosive device hit his vehicle.

Two other soldiers were also killed: Sgt. Alejandro A. Dominguez, 24, of San Diego, Calif., and Pfc. James M. Yohn, 25, of Highspire, Penn.

Taylor, Dominguez and Yohn were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based in Fort Hood, Texas.
