Another event is going virtual — the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences' Darwin Days.

The annual event, which takes place in November each year, focuses on Darwin's work and what his theories of natural selection have meant for science, research and education.

Usually a day-long event, this year's Darwin Day will span two days with virtual activities that will feature current scientists and how they are applying Darwin's theories in their own research. The theme is fish and marine animals.

Programs take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13, and 9 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14.

Topics include horseshoe crabs, animal care at the museum, a "field trip" to Lake Waccamaw, a Q&A with a marine biologist and evolution origami.

More information is on the museum's website about the different sessions and how to participate.
These activities are entirely virtual, but the museum is open to visitors on a limited basis and with new safety measures. Be sure to check the museum's website for details and to line up free timed-entry tickets before you go.
