DURHAM, N.C. — The Museum of Life and Science will host its first family LGBTQ+ event on Sunday.
Dubbed "Prism," the event will celebrate diversity in STEM as part of national Pride month. The event is included with admission to the museum. Activities will be happening from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating Pride with a day of fun and creative activities on campus,” said Matt Pusateri, Senior Director of Marketing at the Museum. “The Museum is committed to equal access and opportunity for all in our community. We want this to be an inclusive space for everyone. But more than that, we think this event will be a fun day out for families from around the Triangle.”

Here's a look at some of the activities planned:

  • Durham Drag Queen Stormie Daie is appearing as a Super Scientist in The Lab. Guests can join “Science with Stormie” with a musical number about the wonders of the water cycle. Stormie will also be out and about on campus throughout the day
  • A Pride Parade around the Museum grounds. Visitors will have the chance to create their own flag and noisemaker before joining the parade
  • Learn about color science from Museum staff through DIY Newton’s discs and a giant bubble station
  • Examples of iridescence in butterfly wings and hear diversity in insect society during pop-up insect encounters throughout the day in the Butterfly House
