FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Monday charged a Fayetteville man with murder in a weekend wreck that killed a motorcyclist.

Jason Gregory Taft, 22, of 250 King's Creek Drive, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Felipe Ramirez.

Investigators said Taft was eastbound on Country Club Drive at about 2 a.m. Saturday when he lost control of his pickup truck near the Murchison Road intersection. The pickup crossed the center line and collided head-on with Ramirez' motorcycle. Ramirez, 27, of Fort Bragg, died at the scene.

Excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the wreck, police said.
