Multi-vehicle wreck in southeast Raleigh sends 12 to the hospital

At least 15 people, including several children, were hurt Saturday morning during a multi-vehicle accident that occurred at a busy southeast Raleigh intersection, authorities said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — At least a dozen patients, including several children, may have been injured during a multi-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday morning at a busy southeast Raleigh intersection, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. at Rock Quarry and Jones Sausage roads.

It was not immediately clear what led to the accident, but Raleigh police said five vehicles were involved in the crash, including two cars, a minivan and an SUV.

An accident in southeast Raleigh at Rock Quarry and Jones Sausage roads sent several people to the hospital.

Police said 12 people, including six children, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police said the children did not appear injured after the crash, but they were taken for medical care as a precaution.

Authorities have not yet said if anyone has been cited or arrested in connection with the crash.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area while police worked to clear the scene and the debris from the crash.
