Emmett Miller is taking Moore County by storm amid a stretch of viral stardom from his haircut. Miller has made the top 25 of the USA Mullet Championships.

Oh, why is your mullet the best? You don't know. Well, what's different about it than anybody else's that? You saw all the other kids, you do, your bangs are, yes, that is a signature feature is his bangs bangs are the focal point. Okay. Which people say? He looks like john daly, which a young version of john daly and if you look it up, yeah, he does it. What do you think of all this attention man? What do you think of all everything that's happening to you lately? I don't know, it's a lot, isn't it? It was only what, five at the time, so I mean no, no change in it. He has been pretty excited about being in the paper and on the news and everything. No one really seems to notice him when he has his hat on, but today at golf he took his hat off and said, someone had said, hey, what did they say? I saw, I saw you in the newspaper um one time I was driving and a bug and it got cut off, a little bit of hair got caught up when the roof was going down. What? Oh, you were in your grandparents convertible? The bug, it got caught in the did, no, I didn't know that going to the beach when we were going to the beach. Did you, were you the first one to break to him that he had a mullet like. Did did you even know what a mullet was? Yeah, he did not know, no, he did not know what them all it was. So yeah, so we sent, we showed him pictures then, you know of country singers and and said, hey, you know this is, this is what you're talking about, short on top long in the back and he said, yep, that's what I want. I was looking because we had changed, you know, barbers and things like that and I, I wanted his, his hair, it didn't blend in the beginning, it wasn't blending right? So I was trying to find pictures to show like, hey, this is what we're looking for. And then I came across the winter of last year and I was like, I was telling his dad and Emmett, I was like, you know, this is a contest and that's how, and then Emmett said I'm going to enter, what do you think? Do you think you've become more comfortable around people? Yeah, especially with trying to talk to reporters and journalists and things. Getting your picture taken. He was very comfortable with that. Like he should be a model. He was very comfortable with that camera. Some people don't really like his hair. They're like, why you, you know, why would you let him have that? I've had people say and it's like, well that's what he wants and you know, that's what he wants to do, He wants his hair, like any way he wants and that's fine. Um but then a lot of other people are, you know, they like the hair, they're excited for and help sharing and spreading the word, you know, to get the voting out there. It was just immediate. He was like, I'm joining. Like I didn't even ask if he wanted to, you know, I told him about it and then he was like, I'm doing it, I'm doing it.
